Hialeah, FL, January 17- Feature Jess Rockin, dismissed at odds of 14-1, was an easy length and one quarter winner over Kitty D Ville and Hez Fastforthecash in today’s featured Sawgrass Stakes at Hialeah Park, run over a sloppy track on a showery afternoon, while her time of 21.498 for the classic 440-yard trip established a track record. Vertical Vision, the post time favorite, and Little Surfer, winner of the Hialeah Derby, both disappointed finishing seventh and ninth respectively.

A five-year-old mare by Feature Mr Jess, the winner pushed her career earnings over $66,000 with today’s victory, worth $13,500, her fourth from 24 lifetime starts. Winning jockey Thomas Byrd, mindful of today’s track condition, steered Feature Jess Rockin towards the outside part of the racetrack from post position three while collecting his third winner of the day. It also provided trainer Donnie Strickland his second victory on the card, while both jockey and trainer have now registered five stakes wins apiece at the current meet.

Live American Quarter Horse racing resumes Monday at Hialeah Park beginning at 2:05 p.m. and takes place four days a week, Saturday through Tuesday, through February 2. The gates open at 1:00 while parking and admission are always free.
